Robert A. Wenzel
May 16, 1945 - September 24, 2021

Robert Wenzel, 76, passed away Friday September 24, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was born May 16th 1945 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston,NY, son of Richard and Matilda Wenzel. He was the 2nd of 8 siblings.

Bob graduated Kingston High School and served in the US Army from 1963 - 1965. Honorable Discharge. Stationed in Giessen, West Germany. He graduated with a BA in Accounting from the university of Bridgeport in 1972 and an A.AA.S. in Accounting from UCCC in Stone Ridge, NY. He was a Town of Esopus Councilman elected in 1975 and served a 4 year term. Throughout his career he wore many hats for various businesses in NY State as well as CT and overseas in Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos. He was mostly known for his work as an Ulster County Auditor and eventually an Ulster County Deputy Comptroller, and a Senior Examiner for New York State Office of the State Comptroller. Earlier in his career he worked for Henry J. Webster a life long friend in accounting, as well as working for the Wenzel & Sons family business. He also prepared a limited number of returns for many life long friends and individuals and small businesses throughout NY. He was fortunate to have been very good friends with The Nekos Family and helped them with their family pharmacies in the surrounding areas for many years. He married Linda Gail Dunn on April 16th 1977. He was a long time parishioner of St. Peters church in Kingston, NY. His passions were fishing the Esopus and making his hot dog sauce.

Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years Linda, his sons Jonathan and Christopher, stepchildren Charlie and Lisa, grandchildren Kery, Danielle, Josiah, Gabrielle and Dean, great grandchildren Gabriela and Jaeden, brothers Richard, Zeke and George and sister Lizzie as well as many nieces and nephews from siblings families. He is preceded by his parents as well as his brothers Pete, Billy and sisters Barbara and Jeanie and his nephew Brian.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY 12466, where family and friends may visit on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
