Violet was born December 3, 1934 to Gerhart Mattison and Merle Glasby. She then went to work as a housekeeper for the Mayo family and then later went to work in housekeeping at Methodist Hospital until her retirement. While at Methodist Hospital, Violet was awarded the Karis Award for her outstanding dedication and performance. Early on in her young adult life, Violet met Elizabeth Cole, whom Violet helped care for Elizabeth's mother. Elizabeth "adopted" Violet and Elizabeth became the mother figure in Violet's life. Violet loved to travel and went on many trips throughout the world with her "mom". Some of her favorite vacations were, Norway and Germany, among many other beautiful destinations. Violet also loved doing jigsaw puzzles and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. She was a faithful, Christian woman and was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church since 1954 and was proud to be in the very first confirmation class at the church. Violet was comical, had a big heart and was generous all the way around. She was thoughtful, loved meeting new people and making new friends.

Violet is survived by her half-sisters, Geri (Russ) Farnsworth, Kris Deo; half-brothers, John and Robert Mattison; cousin, Verleine Grimm and other family. Violet is also survived by her dear friends, Shirley (Mike) Doyle, Ellen Stelling, Barb (Stewart) Lewis, Kathy Lassard and many other church friends.
