Genevieve J. Borcherding
January 4, 1938 - September 25, 2021

Genevieve J. Borcherding, 83, of Latimer, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond. She was born January 4, 1938, in Hampton, Iowa, to John and Jurgena (Nielsen) Pandil.

Genevieve graduated from Hampton Community High School, class of 1956. Genevieve was united in marriage to Donald H. Borcherding on August 22, 1957, in Niagra Falls, New York. To this union, three children were born: Steven, Jane and William.

Genevieve farmed with her husband, Donald. After furthering her education at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, and graduating in 1988, she worked as a medical secretary. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer. Genevieve enjoyed needle point and watching old western movies, especially John Wayne. She also enjoyed fishing with Donald and loved all of her pets.

Genevieve is survived by her children Steven of Latimer, Jane of Kansas City, Missouri and William (Janet) of Red Wing, Minnesota; sister Dorothy Abbas of Hampton; sisters-in-law Marlene Pandil of Humboldt, Lois Borcherding of Latimer, Sylvia Borcherding of Sheffield, and Margot Borcherding of Hampton; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; infant sister Genevieve Carroll Pandil; siblings Roger Pandil, Junior Pandil, Alethea Imerman, Velma Pandil, Melvin "Whitey" Pandil, Marvin "Spec" Pandil; many brothers- and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer. Burial will take place in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer.
