Rutz, Mr.
James Henry
Muskegon

On Saturday, September 18, 2021, James (Jim) Henry Rutz, loving husband, father, brother, mentor, and friend to all, passed away at the age of 61. He was born in Muskegon, MI on September 12, 1960, to Stanley James & Altha Fern (Pritchard) Rutz and lived most of his life in his hometown. He was proud to have been a "Big Red" and graduate of Muskegon High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan before heading to the University of Texas to pursue his Master's degree. He was able to explore, travel, live and form lasting relationships in other states before returning to Muskegon where he met and married the former Renee Kenney on October 12, 1996. Together they have two children, Danica James, and Dane Thomas. Jim found meaning and fulfillment in his family, personal relationships, and the beauty of nature. He was an avid reader, a wordsmith, and a writer in his spare time. He took much joy in volunteering for his children's school events and coaching both soccer and football. Through coaching, he donned both Mona Shores and Muskegon Catholic Central hats and was truly proud to do so. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

I am wishing you and the family so much love, peace and comfort in the coming days. And, for Jim, peace and joy in his next adventure. "

"Renee, Patty, and Nancy - and to all the rest of Jim's family and freinds - I am heartbroken over our loss of Jim. Mike Flynn, Jim and I were almost always hanging out together as kids in Beachwood. Our moms didn't need to make more than two call to find us - just to the other two houses. You all are in my prayers. Please feel hugged and loved. Sincerely, Chris Pothoff"
