MARIA VALERIA BECERRA MUSCATINE, Iowa - Maria Valeria Becerra, 70, of Muscatine, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the St. Mathias Church. The Reverend Jason Crossen will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Ray Ramos, Roy Becerra, Lionel Garcia, Andres Garcia, Rick Arellanos, Thomas Pierce, Chad Furman, and Joey Hayes. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Dialysis Unit. Maria was born on April 28, 1939, in La Feria, Texas, the daughter of Jose Angel Ramos and Guillerma Martinez de Ramos. She married Juan Becerra on October 20, 1967, in Rock Island, Illinois. She was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish. Maria's world centered around her children and grandchildren, she also enjoyed playing bingo. Survivors include her husband, Juan Becerra of Muscatine; two sons, Ray Ramos of Mt. Pleasant, and Roy Becerra of Muscatine; two daughters, Rebeca Garcia-Ramos and husband, Israel Rangel of Muscatine, and Soledad Becerra and husband Agustin Torres of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren, Lionel E. Garcia, Andres J. Garcia, Samantha R. Garcia, Tony A. Rangel, Cecilia M. Rangel, Jacob I. Rangel, Jose Maria Rubio, Sergio E. Becerra, Maximus A. Becerra, Valeria N. Becerra, Mercedes C. Becerra, and Benz R. Becerra; her 91 year old mother, Guillerma Martinez; and eight siblings, Jesus Joel Ramos, Emilia Ramos, Ernestina Ramos, Josefina Ramos, Miguel Angel Ramos, Margarita Ramos. She is preceded in death by her father and one brother, Julian Ramos.
