Wayne David Borcherding
April 18, 1940 - September 26, 2021

Wayne David Borcherding, 81, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

Wayne was born on April 18, 1940, in Hampton, to Herman and Martha (Mueller) Borcherding. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer and graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran School in Latimer.

Wayne was united in marriage to Lois Menning on June 2, 1961, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong active member and served as an elder on the board. He was also a trustee for Franklin Rural Fire District 1 for over forty years.

Wayne was a farmer and enjoyed every minute of it; farming was a joy of his life. He started farming at an early age with his dad, farmed for many years on his own and continued to help his grandsons during harvest time. When he wasn't farming, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, having coffee at Dudley's and spending time with his family.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Lois Borcherding of Latimer; his daughter Pam (Benji) Fett of Latimer, and her son Joshua (Lacy) Krabbe, their children Caden and Harlow, and her son Tyler (Hanna) Krabbe, their children Peyton, Amelia and Wren, along with his grandchild Jax Krabbe; his son Curtis (Lori) Borcherding of Ellston, and their children Karli (Andrew) Gunn, Alexis Borcherding, Camryn Borcherding, Caitlyn Burke and Tyler Burke; sisters-in-law Sylvia Borcherding and Margot Borcherding; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Martha, brothers Donald (Genevieve), Rudy, Ervin and Wilbert, infant sons David Dean, Mark David and Daniel Lynn, grandson Derrick Krabbe and mother-in-law Gertie Kruckenberg.

Memorials may be sent to St. Paul's Lutheran School or Church in Latimer or to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2021, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer.
