Charles L. Abbott WOODHULL, Illinois - Charles L. Abbott, 82, of Woodhull, formerly of Terra Haute, Indiana, and Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at his home. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the Woodhull cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Charles was born on August 14, 1927, in Caledonia, Minnesota, a son of Charles and Beulah Crogan Abbott. He graduated from Eaton High School in Eaton, Co. He attended Rose Holman Institute of Engineering in Terra Haute, Ind. He married Lou Tippery on August 28, 1948, in New Albin, Iowa. He was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed putting Christ's teaching into action. He was a maintenance supervisor working in the dredging industry for several years. He retired in 1982 as maintenance manager for the Amex Coal Co.in Indianapolis. He enjoyed re-building houses, journaling, square dancing and was an Harley Davidson enthusiast. Survivors include his wife, Lou Abbott of Woodhull; three sons, Chris Abbott and wife, Theresa, of Eldridge, Kevin Abbott and wife, Marilyn, of Mesa, Arizona, and Paul Abbott and wife, Sherry, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Megan, Meredith, Joshua and Isaiah; and two great grandchildren, Ava and Molly. His parents preceded him in death.
