Selma K. Plotkin died peacefully on September 28, 2021 at the age of 103. Selma was born in Houston, Texas on August 18, 1918 to Harry & Bessie Margolis.
She attended San Jacinto High School where she graduated in 1936. She later met and married the love of her life, Samuel Plotkin, whom she met on a blind date. They weren't married long before Sam was called to serve his country during World War II. Selma spent those years raising their first child Donald. After returning stateside, Sam and Selma settled into normal life again and soon found themselves parents to twin boys, Larry & Garry. Ten years later they were surprised by the fact that a fourth child would be arriving who turned out to be Randy. They started multiple successful businesses over the years and always worked as a team. Twenty years after being licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois, Sam decided to get licensed in the state of Texas where he practiced family law until he retired. Selma was his legal secretary as they continued to work as a team. They spent their later years together traveling whenever possible to various places of interest. Selma enjoyed an active social life with her friends and especially her sister Bea. She spent much of that time around the mah jongg table. If she had any spare time, you could find her needlepointing her favorite subjects. Her greatest joy however was time spent with her family. Sunday morning breakfasts together became a routine. After the grandchildren arrived, much of her time was spent with them, spoiling them in no uncertain terms. She continued to stay active both mentally and physically and continued driving until she was 97 years old.
She is predeceased by her parents Harry & Bessie Margolis, her husband Samuel, her brother Maurice Margolis, her sister Bea Metrik, her son Dr. Donald Plotkin and grandson Ryan Plotkin. She is survived by her three sons Larry, Garry and Randy and wife Pat, and her daughter-in-law Margie Plotkin. Her six grandchildren Marc, Chad and Jason Plotkin, Felicia Harris, Denise Abbrederis & Sheryl Goforth. Her ten great grandchildren include Maddi Plotkin, Adam & Alex Plotkin, Brooks Plotkin, Kennedy & Reagan Abbrederis, Jake & Ella Goforth and Samantha & Riley Harris and numerous nieces and nephews.
