November 4, 1935 - October 2, 2021

After a lengthy illness, Cheryle ("Cherry") Haugen, 85, of Rochester passed away at her home on October 2, 2021. She was born November 4, 1935 in Cannon City Township, Rice County, Minnesota to Rueben and Mamie (Ryder) Schwert. She was active in several community organizations, served a variety of volunteer roles, and was a long-time member of Bethany United Methodist Church and later Evangel United Methodist in Rochester. After raising four children she began a career planning and leading guided bus tours, and served as a tour escort and trip planner for Glenn's Motorcoach Tours of Rochester for over 25 years, guiding trips through all 50 states, Canada, and several foreign countries. She escorted her last tour in 2020 when she was 84.

Cheryle is survived by her husband of more than 66 years, Duane, three sisters, Colleen (Martinson), Sharon (Cox), and Pam (Vohs), four children, David, Kim (Dan Gapinski), Heidi (Bruce Martell), and Gary (Lori Hallum), as well as 7 grandchildren (Megan, Kelli, Katie, Sarah, Ben, Emilee, and Jacqueline), 4 great grandchildren (Lacorion, LJ, Layla, and Isla), and nieces, nephews, and many special friends

Cheryle's family extends its sincerest gratitude and appreciation for the compassionate care that Cheryle received from Seasons' Hospice, Rochester Rehabilitation and Living Center, and the Mayo care team.

A funeral and memorial service are planned for 2:00 pm, Friday, October 8, 2021 at Evangel United Methodist Church, 2645 North Broadway, Rochester, Minnesota 55906. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service in the Evangel narthex. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks are required and will be provided.
