Maria Renate Schroeder, nee tenBuelt.
We are so sad to lose our Maria, also known as Mary and Tante Renate.
Born July 1, 1926, in Germany, she died October 5, 2021 in Florida.
She is pre-deceased by both her sisters, Grete Junger (Germany) and Eva Dunlop (Canada) and her late husband, Karl Albert Schroeder. The three sisters kept in touch by typewritten letters in triplicate using the old carbon paper when phone calls were so expensive.
They survived many hardships and although as adults lived in different countries and even continents, were very close. In the end Maria, the oldest, lived the longest. We are so grateful to have had her in our lives.
Maria leaves behind her nieces Renate von Hahn, Tanja Pollock and Diana Pengelley; nephews Roger Dunlop and Francis Dunlop; their spouses and partners, as well as five grand-nephews, two grand-nieces and even one great-grand niece.
Her wonderful, caring friends in Bradenton, Michigan, Illinois and Europe meant the world to her. Maria was also proud volunteer at Westminster Manor for many years.
A Celebration of the long life of our beloved Maria Renate will be planned for a later date. Think of her reading a magazine or the local newspaper as she loved doing. To honour Maria's charitable heart, we hope you consider a donation to:
