Charlotte Lucille Benson, 79, of Yates City passed away at home on Monday, October 4, 2021, surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born November 7, 1941, in Harriman, New York, to James and Myrtle (Youmans) Conley.
She married Raymond (LeRoy) Benson on January 11, 1969. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2020.
They settled in Yates City, IL after Raymond's retirement from the US Air Force. Charlotte held many jobs over the years, but her career was being a wife and mother.
She and LeRoy worshipped and served as members of Faith United Presbyterian Church. They were past members of Yates City Order of the Eastern Star and current members of the Galesburg chapter. They loved working with, visiting, and traveling with other Eastern Star members.
Charlotte was loving, generous, and always willing to help.
She is survived by her three children, Tammy (Terry) Bjerke of Manvel, ND; Raymond (Michelle) Benson, Jr. of Galesburg; Marjorie (Derek) Hagerdorn of Yates City; ten grandchildren: Ian(Kathryn), Tanner(Carly), Dakota, Mercedes, Trevor, Connor, Braden, and Jacob; and six great-grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; her brother; and her sister.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. A visitation will be held the night before from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Faith United Presbyterian Church in Yates City or the Eastern Star Home in Macon, IL.
