Charles Sondrol
August 16, 1928 - October 7, 2021



Charles Sondrol, 93, of Ames Iowa, passed away on October 7th, 2021, at Mary Greeley Medical Center with his family by his side. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 5:00 - 6:30p.m. at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames Iowa. A private family burial will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.

Charles was born on August 16th, 1928 in Emmons, Iowa to Clarence and Selma (Singlestad) Sondrol. Charles attended Emmons High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably during World War II from 1945 until 1947. When Charles returned to Minnesota, he married Shirley Kruggel. The two made their lives together and raised three children, Tamara, Paul and Daniel in Ames, Iowa. Chuck sold Real Estate and was a homebuilder in Ames.

Chuck loved the New York Yankees, traveling, being a Norwegian and jazz music. He enjoyed a good cigar, a stiff drink and was life long Lutheran.
Left to cherish Charles' memory are his children, daughter, Tamara (Dr. Jim) Stein, of Muscatine, Iowa; son, Daniel (Cheryl) Sondrol of Ames, Iowa. Grandchildren Dr. Timothy Stein, Carrie Zorich, and Daniel Stein. Chase, Taylor, Cara and Selah Sondrol and 8 great-grandchildren.

Charles is proceeded into death by his 1st wife Shirley, and 2nd wife Jean. A son, Dr. Paul Sondrol and granddaughter Chelsea Sondrol. Parents Clarence and Selma, 2 sisters, Ann Paczkowski and Norma Schamburg and brother, Donald Sondrol.
