In loving memory of

Shirley Ann Ehrig
December 2, 1951 - October 13, 2021

Shirley Ann Ehrig was born December 2, 1951, to Cyril and Norma (Boger) Ehrig in Ackley, Iowa. The family made their home in Ackley where Shirley attended school and graduated in 1969. Growing up she had a love for horses and her dad got one for her that she named "Lightning." She loved riding him and he became a constant companion.

After high school Shirley married and had two children, Jesse and April. They were the joy of her life. She had fond memories of taking them to the roller skating rink and watching them as they both excelled in the sport and won many awards. In 1987, Shirley moved to central Iowa where she began a cleaning business and worked for Ev Cochran managing and cleaning apartments. Her business eventually extended to residential cleaning where she thrived and became a friend and confidante to many families.

Shirley accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and found Him to be her faithful friend. Through that relationship she learned to be a mighty prayer warrior for her family and friends in her life. Shirley experienced many miracles and her testimony of them was an encouragement and joy to those who crossed her path. Shirley was known for her love - not only for God but for people. Everyone felt that love in her presence. She had a dream of one day having a place for the downtrodden to come and be healed and loved back to wholeness. She was going to name it "Love Incorporated."

Shirley's favorite scripture passage was Psalm 23 and she would not hesitate to quote it if she thought it would help you.

Shirley so enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. And even though they were far away, she didn't stop praying for them. She knew God would answer every request.

As Shirley grew closer to the time of her retirement, she was privileged to have her mother move in with her. Being able to care for her mother was a special time in her life.

Shirley enjoyed going to church at Open Bible Fellowship in Ankeny, Iowa. She developed many friendships there. She loved to worship and was a counselor to many.

Shirley passed into Heaven on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

Those left to cherish Shirley's memory include her children, Jesse (Laurie) Borschel and April Borschel; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Janae, Kelan, Ashley, Amber, Aylssa, and Alex; five great grandchildren, Cody, Chloe, Fallyn, Lila, and Everly; her siblings, Larry (Joan) Ehrig, and Wayne (Mary) Ehrig; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father (Cyril) and mother (Norma).

Burial will be in St Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Ackley, Iowa.

"Jesse and April, I?m so sorry for your loss. I loved Shirley. She was very special to me my whole life. I wouldn?t be here today if it wasn?t for her actions in Iowa Falls. She loved all of us kids so much? I?ll never forget her driving everywhere wearing booties and no shoes, roller skating with her Pom poms on her skates, getting perms in her hair, sitting in a chair with taffy, and her amazing hugs and kisses all the way up to the end. Oh and how much she loved us going to Red Lobster! I will miss her dearly? Love Melanie Johnson Parker"
