MARY L. MEEKER COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - Mary Louise Meeker, 83, Columbus Junction, died Wednesday January 12, 2011, at Colonial Manor Care Center, Columbus Junction. Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011, at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. The Rev. Al Coffin will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob and Mary's grandchildren. Committal services for Robert and Mary Meeker will be in Columbus City Cemetery following the memorial service. Following the committal service there will be a time of coffee, desserts and fellowship at the American Legion Hall in Columbus Junction. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are in the care of the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Legion Auxiliary or the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Mary was born on June 27, 1927, in Washington, the daughter of Clarence Arthur and Nola Bell Moothart Johnson. She married Robert H. Meeker on May 29, 1949, in Washington. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2006. She was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church and a 60 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as a secretary for the Columbus Community High School, the Dillon Law Office and the City of Columbus Junction. She and her husband owned and Mary's Paint and Gift Shop in Columbus Junction. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flower beds and playing with her cat, Cali, and especially, loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her son, Steven R. Meeker and wife, Jodie, of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Nita S. Abbott and husband, Dennis, of Conesville; five grandchildren, Stephanie Feickert and husband, Adrian, Brayton Meeker, Andy Abbott and wife, Dixie, Kris Abbott and wife, Shannon, and Jennifer Buffington and husband, Bryon; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Bryce and Cole Abbott. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Charles and Walter Johnson; and an infant sister, Bettie Johnson.
