Dana C. Gruber, age 66 of Prairie City, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Pella Regional Health Center. Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am on Monday at the funeral home. The son of Clarence Ralph and Frances Marie (Williams) Gruber, Dana was born on June 19, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa. On May 20, 1978, he was united in marriage to Shirley Stravers. Dana worked as a carpenter retiring 4 years ago. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, hosting clay shoot outs for several years for friends and family and loved Westerns. Dana wasn't a guy with a lot of words, but was one with a big heart and always there with a helping hand.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Brenda (John) Lillard; a son, Danny (Shelby) Gruber; four grandchildren, Stone, Titan, Ivy and Sylus; two sisters, Gladys (Dennis) Kadner and Paulette Weir and a brother, Chris Gruber. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Silas and Mitch.
