In loving memory of

Andrew Martin Holman
May 6, 1997 - November 11, 2021

SSGT Andrew Martin Holman, age 24, of Melbourne, FL and formerly of Rochester, MN passed away unexpectedly on November, 11th, 2021. Andrew was born on May 6th, 1997 in Rochester, MN to Jim and Shelly (Madden) Holman. He attended and graduated from John Marshall High School in 2015, shortly after he began his career in the United States Air Force. Andrew completed his Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He then was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS, followed by moving to Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND, then Osan Air Base in South Korea before returning to the US at Patrick Space Force Base in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Along the way he created many, many friendships with fellow service members during his service. Andrew was an air traffic controller for the military and planned to continue this work once his time in Air Force was finished.

Andrew was a very kind, compassionate young man whose smile could bring light to any situation. His smile is a characteristic that many family and friends will always remember. He was always willing to help anyone at any time, Andrew would give the shirt off his back. He was very proud of being a life member of the VFW as well as a member of the Rochester Elks Lodge #1091.

If you knew Andrew, you knew he loved his motorcycle, as well as taking trips to ride ATVs. He and his family would often take trips over to the Wisconsin Dells to enjoy some family time. Andrew absolutely loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially enjoying the family trips they took.

Andrew is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bruce Holman.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Shelly Holman of Rochester, MN; his brother, Ryan Holman of Rochester, MN; his grandparents, Delores Holman of New Hope, MN, Gary Madden of Blaine, MN, and Margie Durand of Cathedral City, CA; along with many loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends he made throughout his life.

"I had the pleasure of being in the shadow of Andrew's life while in high school. Between lacrosse, football, and ski club we got to spend a lot of time together enjoying the sports we loved. My first memory of Andrew was him giving me a ride to school in the morning for ski club with my snowboard in his Chevy HHR I believe. I was scared of hanging out with the older kids but they let me snowboard with them that night. I also remember goofing around in the back of the lacrosse huddle with him, and he always said something to say to make us laugh. Those are the memories I will always cherish. With love. "I never had the pleasure of knowing Andrew but have known Jim and Shelly for many years. If Andrew was like his Dad, I know I would have liked him. Thank you Jim and Shelly for raising such a fine Son who chose a career of service to our Country. I too have Sons who have chosen the path of Military service and I sincerely feel your loss. My prayers are with you as you go through the grieving process. Time is the only antidote. May God bless you and comfort you at this time, Keith Elliott Sioux Falls, SD"

"Jim, Shelly, Ryan and family - The girls and I were devastated to hear of Andrew's passing and can not imagine what you all are going through. We have been thinking of you and holding you in our hearts. I have such fond memories of young Andrew at one of his birthday parties when he asked little Makenzie to ride with him around the backyard in his power wheels jeep. We knew then he was a caring and giving person, who would be of "service" to others. This is an unimaginable loss, but please know so many are here for you and will do whatever you need. Love to you all!! Kate, Kenzie, & Maddie Andersen"
