MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ralph Edwin Hoag, 88, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at SunnyBrook of Muscatine.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Marsha Gerot will officiate. Burial will be in Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dane Paulson, Dustin Paulson, Bryan Hoag, Bradley Gregg, and Dustin Lampe.

Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grandview/Letts Lions Club and Friends of Muscatine FFA. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Ralph was born on November 23, 1932, in Lockwood, Missouri, the son of Paul and Freda Zimmerman Hoag. He married Doris Welk and later married Shirley Gifford.

Ralph farmed his whole life. He was a bus driver for the Muscatine Community School District for many years. Ralph was a member of the Grandview/Letts Lions Club, the Agricultural Advisory Council for the Muscatine FFA, and the Farm Bureau. He was secretary of the Muscatine County Pork Producers.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hoag of Muscatine; three children, Debbie Paulson (Don), Doug Hoag (Sandi), and David Hoag (Stacie); eight grandchildren, Dane Paulson (Shannon), Dustin Paulson (MacKenzie), Lindsey Henke (Luke), Tricia Sours (Zach), Shonna Lampe (Dustin), Bryan Hoag (Teri), Bradley Gregg (Molly), and Ashley VanderSchoor (Scott), 20 great grandchildren, Bentley and Hayley Paulson, Asher Henke, Cole, Chase, Claire, and Chandler Sours, Carter, Tanner, and Oliver Lampe, Layne, Riggston, and Droz Hoag, Obi, Campbell, Emerson, and Brinley Gregg, Connor Wood, Aubrey, and Henry VanderSchoor; and one great great granddaughter, Harper Sours.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Hoag Jr. and twin brother Walter Hoag; one daughter, Diane Gregg; one grandson, Daniel Gregg; and one great granddaughter, Alexis Bassett.
