Mr. Charles Henry Carter, age 74, departed this life on Wednesday November 17, 2021 at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, IN. Charles was born on August 28, 1947 to Clifton Bullock and Beatrice McMillian in Lincoln County, MS. He graduated in 1965 at Eva H. Harris High School in Brookhaven, MS. After high school, Charles joined the U.S. Air Force for four years. He enjoyed fishing in White Lake with his friends, traveling and spending quality time his family. He was a big supporter of the Muskegon Big Reds athletic department and he never missed a game. Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was ordained as a minister at Community Wesleyan and later joined Emmanuel Tabernacle COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Andre McClanahan until his health failed. He was a 31 year retired police officer for the Muskegon Police Department and rose to the ranks of detective, school resource officer and retired as a sergeant in 2001.

Charles leaves to cherish in memories his beloved wife; Bertha Carter; four sons Charles Carter of Los Angles, CA, Kenneth (Janet) McDaniel of Kansas City, MO, LaRon (Keisha) White of Muskegon, MI and Kentrell (Angela) Anthony of Muskegon, MI; five daughters, Valerie McDaniel and Yovonda McDaniel of Kansas City, MO, Shondala Holt of Muskegon, MI and Tamerra Carter of Avondale, AZ, Chartrese Carter of Muskegon,MI; two brothers, Joey McMillian and Mark McMillian of Muskegon MI; four sisters; Evelyn McMillian of Muskegon MI, Alice McMillian of Portage, MI, Shirley McMillan of Grand Rapids, MI, Vidette Mixon of New York; two aunts, Sarah Carter and Bertha Fountain of Muskegon,MI; a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Dessie Gray; grandparents, Henry and Jessie Carter; and special aunt, Mary Scott. Masks will be required.
SERVICE
A funeral service for Charles will be held from 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at The Clock Chapel of Clock Funeral Home Inc., 1469 Peck St, Muskegon, Michigan 49441 with Pastor Elder Andre McClanahan, officiating.
