Mary Ellen Freeman
Canton-Mary Ellen Freeman, 94, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born on November 3, 1927 in Fiatt to Franklin and Margaret (Stuckey) Putman.
She married Eugene Freeman on September 6, 1946 in Canton. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2011.
Surviving are her children, Linda (Charles) Gebhardt of AZ, Rosemary (the late Tom) Mendenhall of Macomb, Mike (Muriel) Freeman of Canton, Gordon (Susan) Freeman of Canton, Maggie (Lucy Wooten) Freeman of Canton, fourteen grandchildren, Julie (Dave) Smith, Justin Gebhardt, Lori (Rod) Green, Angie (Steve) Baker, Chris Mendenhall, Tim Mendenhall, Jon (Amber) Mendenhall, Brent (Sarah) Freeman, Blair (Stephanie) Freeman, Brooke (Robert) Denniston, Jennifer (Matt) Kees, Matthew (Jaymie) Freeman, Amanda (Justin) Jochums, Jessica (Jason) Tremain, twenty eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one sister, Helen Reffett and sister in law, JoAnn Westover.
Also preceding her in death are several siblings, one granddaughter, Kimberly Mendenhall and one great great grandchild.
Mary Ellen worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell, retiring after 32 years of service.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton. She was also a member of the Farmington Moose, Pioneers of America and the Business and Professional Women's Club.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11 am, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a visitation held one hour prior at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
