Patrick Francis Doherty, of Ambler and of Carndonagh County Donegal, Ireland, died Friday May 1st at home with his family.
Born in Donegal, IRELAND, he was the son of the late Patrick and Marjorie (nee McDaid) Doherty.
He was self employed owning and operating the Patrick Doherty Contractor Company working as a carpenter for 65 years until he retired in 1986.
Mr. Doherty was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Ambler and the Bee Keepers Association and maintained 80 bee hives in the Ambler area. As a hobby he did cabinet and clock building.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary C. (nee McMenamin) Doherty for 55 years and devoted children Michael Doherty of Conshohocken, Sheila Helge and husband Jon Paul of Ambler, Mary Dick and husband George of Plymouth Meeting, Patrick Doherty of Maple Glen and Eileen O'Hanlon and husband Richard of Norfolk, VA. He was the loving grandfather of Megan, Kevin, George, Katie, Dara and Brynn. He was also survived by a brother Francis Doherty and a sister Kathleen Devlin both in Ireland.
Relatives and friends were invited to call after 9:00 AM Tuesday May 5th at St. Anthony of Padua Church 259 Forest Ave. Ambler, PA 19002. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 AM by Rev. Msgr. Stephen P. McHenry. The interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
