James Schmidt
September 17, 1958 - November 22, 2021

James P. "Jim" Schmidt of Mattoon, formerly of Menasha, died on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 63 years old. He was born on September 17, 1958 in Antigo, a son of the late Francis and Anna (Fischer) Schmidt.

Jim was a graduate of Antigo High School.

He was a machinist for Miller Electric Manufacturing in Appleton until his retirement in 2018. He recently moved to Mattoon with his sister, Jeanette, and great-niece, Arianna, with whom he shared a special bond. He enjoyed the companionship of their Pomeranian, Lucky, the master of the house.

Jim loved spending time in his woods, hunting, four-wheeling and planting trees. He also enjoyed fishing and camping with friends, Jeff Herbert and Dick Schabo.

Survivors include three sisters, Suzette (Ronald) Schwanz, Jeanette Chrudimsky and Judy (Ronald) Beyersdorf; two brothers, Francis "Butch" (Fern) Schmidt Jr. and Roger Schmidt; eight nieces and nephews, Paula Golke, Tammy Beyersdorf, Heather (Wesley) Wendt, Clint Beyersdorf, Gina (Dan) Parmer, Shayna (Paul) Cappelle, Tiffany (Patrick) Furman and Brittany Schmidt; great-nieces and nephews, Kyle (Audrey) Schwanz, Skyler and Cassie Golke, Marissa Wisnefske, Rebecca and Rachel Beyersdorf, Jocelyn Wendt, Andrew and Arianna Parmer, Jacob (Kayla) Cappelle, Marissa (Zachary) Stamper, Ryley Gresens, Mariha, Kyarra and Alysia Furman; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, John Chrudimsky.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox with Rev. Edmundo Siguenza officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. with a parish wake service at 6 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Mattoon.
