August 21, 1960 - December 12, 2021

Peggy Schmidt, 61 of Rhodes, Iowa passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Southridge Specialty Care Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care (107 North Main St.) in Baxter, Iowa. Her funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter on Thursday, December 16, 2021 with Reverend Christopher Hayward officiating. Burial rites will follow in Bethany Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa.
Peggy was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on August 21, 1960, to Richard and Barbara (Scadden) Davis. She married Danny Guckert and the couple resided in Rhodes where they raised their kids. In 2004 she married Don Schmidt and they lived together in Rhodes. Peggy worked as a cook at Prairie Meadows, the Marshall County Jail, and Baxter Healthcare. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed talking with her kids and grandkids daily. Peggy also enjoyed cooking, listening to old country music, being at home, and watching TV.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband Don Schmidt of Rhodes, IA; children Trevor Guckert of Rhodes, IA, Jeremy Guckert of Rhodes, IA, and Katie (Daniel) Gray of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Tinsley, Tatum, and Danny; siblings Randy (Laura) Davis, Linda Wittmayer, Paula (Bruce) West, and Gary (Jill) Davis; mother-in-law Miriam Schmidt; sister-in-law Sally Seeley; brother-in-law Jimmy (Dana) Schmidt; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Tami Davis, and Danny Guckert.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Peggy and her family.
