Anthony Howard Hall was the third of three children born from the union of Lacey Hall and Joan Burnett-Hall on December 19, 1954.
Anthony was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he, along with his sister and brother embraced his mother's passion for living with creativity, authenticity, and joy.
For the first six years of school, Anthony attended Thirkell Elementary and St. Agnes Catholic School.
After which Anthony attended Hutchins Jr. High School, and Cass Technical High School. Upon graduating from High School, Anthony joined the United States Army where he was trained as an operating room technician. He went on to earn an honorable discharge and moved to California where he lived for ten years. In 1974, he married Joyce Bond, and their union produced two children, Anthony Vidal Hall and Jermaine Sean Hall.
Anthony earned two bachelor's degrees from Wayne State University in Psychology and Philosophy. He later worked at Henry Ford's Cottage Hospital for over 25 years where he worked as an operating room technician. Anthony was especially fond of his time working at Cottage hospital and enjoyed working with his colleagues.
Anthony had interests in many subjects but what stood out was music. He loved singing, dancing, and playing the piano. His favorite artists were Donny Hathaway, Pat Metheny, Stevie Wonder and James Brown. What he enjoyed most was singing with family during family gatherings. He also enjoyed cooking and made up recipes on the spot. Sometimes you didn't know exactly what you were eating but it always tasted good.
Anthony was a loving and generous person who was fun to be around and served as the family sage. He was very astute and gave brilliant, brutally honest advice. He was always supportive and caring towards those who needed him.

For more hours than I can estimate, Anthony Hall and I worked shoulder-to-shoulder performing pediatric eye surgery in the Cottage OR. His attention to the smallest of details made him a natural for the operating room. He dutifully did whatever work was assigned to him, but he let it be known that he preferred the more meticulous plastic surgery and eye cases. That was my good luck.
In the course of our time together, Anthony let me inside his world where we discovered many shared interests. Ever the professional, he didn?t let on at work that we were social friends but over dinners we shared the ups and downs that come with living life to its fullest.
He and I attended concerts, live theater shows and even a local movie premier where we found ourselves seated next to the daughter of the late, great Sam Cooke. Within minutes, Anthony and his new best friend were harmonizing on ?You Send Me.? Another time we drove to Port Huron to watch an OR nurse perform in ?A Chorus Line.? Anthony was dressed to the nines so after the show the cast assumed he was a Broadway impresario looking for his next big star. Anthony did nothing to dispel this notion and we laughed about it all the way home.
I regret that COVID has limited contact with my friend to phone calls. His loss leaves a big hole in my heart, but I take comfort knowing that Anthony considered me to be his friend.

"Anthony was one of my favorite cousins. I couldn't wait for a family rally just so I could sit around and laugh with Anthony about everything! The way he put things and saw things, then how he explained it back so that you could see how he was seeing it, was brilliant. I'm going to miss you cousin, you're hugs, laughs, outlook, your kindness and smile. May the Lord welcome you home.
Love you forever,
Jackie"
