James (Jim) Joseph Wares, 89, of Marshalltown, IA passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19, 2021. Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial Service will be held in Macon, Missouri with details to be determined. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.

Jim, the son of Glen B. and Bessie A. Wares (Billings). was born on May 24, 1932 on a farm east of Atlanta, Missouri. He graduated from Macon High School in 1949 at which time he entered the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean conflict and was part of the Japanese occupation. Jim worked in the grocery business, as a store manager and salesman for 39 years. Jim was a member of Open Arms Baptist Church in Macon. Over the years, he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and discipleship classes. He loved working in his yard and playing golf with friends. Jim was blessed to have had wonderful care by the caring and compassionate nurses and staff at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown during his final days on Earth.

Jim is survived by his children, Debbra (Ken) Murphy of Neskowin, Oregon, James J. (Zebunnisa) Wares of Chicago, Illinois, Glenda Hughes of Marshalltown, and Samual J. Wares of St. Louis, Missouri, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and his sister, Betty Patchin of Ohio. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife, Wanda Wares, and his daughter Mayre Falta.
