In loving memory of

Marguerite Moreau Baribault
August 25, 1928 - November 2, 2021

On the first hour of All Soul's Day on November 2nd, Marguerite Moreau Baribault, in the loving embrace of her daughter Anne and granddaughters Claire and Lita at her bedside, entered heaven to join her beloved husband of 54 years, Jules Donat Baribault. Born on August 25, 1928, she was the first child of Dominique J. Moreau and Antoinette Moreau of Lewiston, Maine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Louis Carl, Julien, Bertrand, and Reynald Moreau.

She traveled by bus from her parents' home in Lewiston to attend Rivier College, now a university in Nashua, New Hampshire, in a time when it was bold and conspicuous for young women to leave home for college. At Rivier, she earned a degree in biology and impressed her classmates with her work ethic and grasp of multiple subjects. Fellow student and friend Louise Baribault introduced Marguerite to her future husband, Jules. They married in Lewiston on September 4, 1950 and made south Louisiana their home for more than 30 years, first briefly in New Orleans, then in Franklin where then Governor C.C. Taddy Aycock was a neighbor and later in Metairie. In 2002 Jules and Marguerite returned to Lewiston, Maine. In 2007, Marguerite made Bellevue, Washington her home with daughter Anne and family.

A woman of great faith, a tower of strength, and a model of assertiveness, she taught her seven children that charity begins at home. They also learned to cherish family, to value education, and to embrace opportunities to expand their horizons. Marguerite's love of travel took her and Jules, a Veteran of WWII in the Pacific, to Paris and Normandy in 1993. At other times they traveled to Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia and later in 2005 to Chiang Mai, Thailand with family for the adoption of her tenth grandchild. She celebrated her 80th birthday on safari in Nairobi, Kenya with daughter Rachel and son-in-law Steve.

Left to cherish her memories are her children Rachel Kent (Steve) of Boxborough, MA; Thomas Baribault (Ann Gnagey) of Jericho, VT; Carl Baribault (Sandra Cordray) of Mandeville, LA; Helene Blank (Barry) of New Orleans, LA: Anne Bankson (Daniel) of Bellevue, WA; Daniel Baribault of Kirkwood, MO; and Reynald (Sally) Baribault of Edina, MN.

Beloved "Memere" to Thomas W. Baribault (Denise Lackey) OR; Alan Baribault (VT); Todd Baribault (NM); Claire Bankson McPherson (Kyle), Brett Bankson, and Lita Bankson (WA); Carolyn Blank and Barry Daniel Blank (LA); Sarah Baribault (MN); Emma Baribault (MO); and Ben Baribault (IA).
