Gary Tosh Kawachi passed away peacefully on December 12, 2021 just days short of his 87th birthday. Gary was born to Irene Ichino and George Yoshito Kawachi in Seattle, Washington. His family owned Floralcrest Greenhouses. During WWII, they were interned at Tule Lake Relocation Center in Northern California. They moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1943 and were allowed to return to Seattle in 1945. Gary was a graduate of Renton High School. He loved music and played multiple instruments, excelling at clarinet in high school band, marching band, and the US Army band. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Horticulture and Floriculture and returned to Seattle to run the family business. While attending Ohio State, he met and married Nancy Lewis and they had three children. One of his favorite places was Ocean Shores, Washington where he loved to dig for razor clams with family and friends, go crabbing for Dungeness crabs, and go beach combing. He eventually moved there for retirement with his second wife Annie (Marshall) Kawachi. He was a fun father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie, and is survived by daughters Kimberly Sargent, Jody Becher (John); son Tod Kawachi (Jenny); three grandchildren Christopher, Kellen, Amaya; and great grandson Anthony.
