In loving memory of

Dennis Desnoyer
November 29, 1942 - December 23, 2021

Dennis Lange Desnoyer passed on December 23, 2021. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. His inspiring and courageous battle with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer is now at an end.

Dennis was born in Detroit, MI to parents Robert and Mildred Desnoyer. He was raised in East Detroit, the third of five siblings, alongside Mary Sue, David, Robert and Steve. As a young man he had a passion for sports, lettering in both basketball and track at East Detroit High School. Following graduation, he began a successful bank auditing career at National Bank of Detroit, spending his evenings in night school to further his education. He would later receive his Bachelor of Finance degree from Walsh College in Troy, MI.

Dennis lived a very active life inspired by his passion for sports, the arts, reading and time with friends. His vinyl music collection was amazing. Jazz, Blues and Classic Rock were constants in the background of his home. Watching and attending high school, college and professional sporting events were a mainstay and he always enjoyed watching his sons, and later, grandsons, participate in their athletic endeavors. Many weekends were spent bowling, a pastime his son Matt has taken to an impressive level. Much time was enjoyed with the families of the friends he grew up with. He valued those friendships and encouraged the importance of nurturing relationships with kindness and a good laugh.

Dennis had a passion for the game of golf. Whether joining his buddies at Bald Mountain Golf Club on Saturdays, a tradition that would last nearly 40 years, or taking trips to Boyne, Gull Lake, Lakewood Shores, and so many other great courses, he loved playing and loved the challenge and the camaraderie. When he wasn't playing, he was watching golf on television. Often, the dinner conversation would include how the weekly tour event was going or how he played on a particular day. Dennis embodied a quote by his golfing hero, Arnold Palmer, "Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated. It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening - and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented."

Dennis married Carol Kellie Desnoyer in 1996. They loved travel, fine dining and live theater. They enjoyed visiting Toronto to see Phantom of the Opera and many other great musicals. Trips to St. Clair, MI to enjoy the amazing cuisine and hospitality of the St. Clair Inn were a favorite.

In addition to his wife Carol, Dennis is survived by his son Mark, his wife Trisha and grandsons Luke and Wyatt of Royal Oak, son Matt of Warren, Carol's son Brian Kellie, his wife Lori and granddaughter Sydney of Sterling Heights, and beloved stepdaughter Lori of Macomb. Dennis also leaves behind brothers David and Steve Desnoyer. He will be greatly missed, and his memory honored by those who loved him.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday March 12th from 10am to 2pm, with a Service at 1:30pm at Verheyden Funeral Home, 43300 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp, MI.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Covenant House,2959 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Detroit, MI 48208
