Roberta Ann Ogburn
May 27, 1942 - December 29, 2021

Roberta Ann Ogburn, age 79 of Colfax, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery. Roberta was born May 27, 1942 to Frank Cook and Serena May Burns. She was born in Valley Junction, Iowa at her grandmother's home. She grew up in Commerce, Iowa, now known as West Des Moines. She was the third child in her family of six. On July 23, 1960 she married Richard Petersen and they had two daughters, Kathy and Margaret.This marriage ended in 1978. Richard remained part of our life until he died in March 1996. Roberta worked many years at the La Pizza House in Des Moines and went to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1978 in the Medicare department. July 1, 1987 her life changed when she met Dale Ogburn, the love of her life. They were married on November 14, 1987 and had a very happy marriage until Dale died October 12, 2011. Dale died one month and 2 days before their 25 wedding anniversary.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Margaret Peterson and Kathy O'Brien; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Kaitlyn Heiman) Peterson, Brandon (Heather) Peterson, Jacob (Ashley) Peterson, Donnie (Heidi) O'Brien and Stephanie (Joe) Holsten; nine great grandchildren, Bentley, McKenzie, Haidien, Isabella, Jadyn, Jackson, Jace, Abby and Emily; and her siblings, Marie Cooney, Linda Corbett and Billy Cook. Preceding her in death were her parents, Husband Dale; a sister, Sandra and a brother, Frank.

I can?t begin to tell you how sorry I am . The loss of a mother is like that of no other. Take comfort in knowing she is smiling down now on you girls now and may she rest on heavenly peace!"
