Joan M. Barranca
September 28, 1935 - January 13, 2022

Joan Barranca, 86, of Ulster Park, New York, formerly of Connelly, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at her son and daughter-in-law's residence in Connelly, New York with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 28, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of the late James Freese and Josephine (Gilson) Freese. Joan was married to Andrew Barranca, Sr., at St. Stanislaw's Roman Catholic Church in Maspeth NY on August 2, 1953. In 1972 they moved to this area. Her husband Andrew passed on October 1st, 1999.

Joan worked at the Benedictine Hospital in the patient accounting department until her retirement in 1998. She had been a parishioner of Presentation Roman Catholic Church, had been very active in the Esopus Republican Committee and was a member of the Esopus Senior Citizens Club. Her favorite thing was to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren who were the lights of her life. Joan was a spitfire who had a beautiful heart and made all those around her smile.

She is survived by her sons Andrew and Victor; daughter-in-law Lillian; as well as two grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Matthew of Clermont, FL; and Victor and his wife Liana of Media, PA. A sister-in-law, Joanne also survives. She was preceded in death by her brothers James Freese and his wife Lillian, Tommy Freese, Johnny Freese as well as her two nephews Jimmy and Johnny.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY. The family will receive their friends on Tuesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The service will be Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Montrepose Cemetery.
