"Mr. Swart had a great and positive influence on both of our children, Anna and Thomas. He sparked Anna?s interest in school and gave her the confidence to excel in her schoolwork. Thomas loved Mr. Swart?s sense of humor and positive encouragement as well. We are forever grateful for all the care and kindness he gave our children. "

Danielle Nelson wrote on Jan 30, 2022:

"Mr. Swart had such a positive impact on my son Connor?s life. It is heartbreaking to know he is gone. He was always there for a phone call or a text to recognize something positive or just to check in. He noticed our child that can go easily unseen. His talks in the hall and check-ins with Connor, just to talk baseball or the latest game meant something to him. Mr. Swart communicated to us repeatedly how much he cared for our son and our son truly loved him, though he showed it in his shy way that only Mr. Swart seemed to see through. He told us he?d never forget Connor. We will never forget you, Mr. Swart. Thank you for making a difference in our son?s life. We are eternally grateful. Rest In Peace. The Nelson family "

"My deepest sympathies to the Swart Family . I had the pleasure of student teaching for Kris. When it came to the art of teaching he was my role model. I?ll never forget the talks we would have and just life advice that we would share back and forth. We would also get on one another over sports since I?m a Jets and Yankee fan and Kris was always Mets and Giants fan. Although life got in the way and I wasn?t able to see him in awhile I will forever be grateful to have known him. Love you brother. Anthony DeStefano "

"The Held-Key family is so profoundly sorry for your loss. Kris was our son's 5th grade teacher last year. Keb adored him. He felt very seen and loved by Mr. Swart, who took a deep interest in Keb's interests and passions both in and outside of school. As parents we were grateful for his personalized communication and regular updates regarding our son's academic growth and emotional well-being. From talking to other parents in my community it is quite obvious that this attention, love, support and focus was given to each and everyone of Kris' students. He was a gifted, beloved educator and colleague who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. "

Julia Helm wrote on Jan 26, 2022:

"From Disney, to basketball games, to Cortland, thank you for showing me the different paths I could take in life and helping me find my path to sports. One of my first memories is when you took me to a Wakill basketball game and got a shirt that was thrown into the crowd; I thought that was the best thing ever but it only got better. Our next basketball game at Marist you got called onto the court to do a full court golf shot with a putter. You missed but, you were close and I was very proud of you for doing that. Our trip to Cortland is one of my most cherished memories. Although I didn?t attend Cortland I did love it and you are what showed me that love. When I think about Cortland I will always think about you. When I think of Wakill, I will always think of you (and the t-shirt) but, mostly you, and when I think of my uncle, I will think about how you got on that court at Marist on front of a crowded gym to put a smile on my face. I know you loved me, and I love you. We will meet again at at basketball game in the sky one day. Rest easy uncle Kris and say hi to Kobe for me."
