Lorraine Ison
December 25, 1938 - January 31, 2022

Lorraine Ison, of Antigo, died Monday, January 31, 2022, at her home under the care of her family. She was 83 years old. She was born on December 25, 1938, in Crandon, a daughter of Henry and Clerga (King) Statezny.

Lorraine graduated from Crandon High School with the class of 1957. She continued her education and received a Bachelors's degree from Asbury College in Wilmore Kentucky in 1962.

She married the love of her life, Everett Ison, on December 16, 1961, at Praise Chapel in Crandon.

She taught at Oshkosh West High School and South Park Junior High while her husband was going to school at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. In the fall of 1963, she moved to Antigo and taught at the Antigo High School. She took a break from teaching to raise her children and then returned to teaching and was the first teacher in the home-bound special education program, teaching until her early retirement due to a brain aneurysm.

She regularly attended church. Lorraine was devoted to prayer and her spiritual life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Lorraine enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Everett of Antigo; a son, Kevin Ison and Heidi Walrath and her children Kylee and Mason of Antigo; a daughter, Rebekah (Kevin) Kennelly of Soledad, Cali; three grandchildren, Wendy Ison of Green Bay, David (Miriah) Ison of Green Bay and Daniel Ison of Utah; a sister, Mary Anne (Roland) Terracina of McFarland; a sister-in-law, Sharon Statezny of Crandon; two brothers-in-law, Deward (Kathy) Ison of Crandon and Leslie (Joyce) Ison of Menasha.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carrol Statezny, a brother in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Lester Ison.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

"Lorraine is the greatest prayer warrior and encourager I have known. She prayed for me every time we spoke. The week before she went to be with the Lord, she sent me raspberries she had picked and frozen and a large bag of cashews. I will always remember the last time I heard her voice. She will be on my mind and in my heart every day. Romans 8:38-39) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. "This deeply saddens me. ?My sincere condolences to Senor Ison and family. I met Lorraine while I was working as a PT receptionist at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. Lorraine would come for therapy and to excercise. She was such a joy, she always greeted me with a hug and always took time to chat. She always asked about my daughter (Senor was her Spanish teacher and Lorraine accompanied on her trip to Mexico for Spanish class) Lorraine was my inspiration, she talked fondly and loved Senor and her family. She definetly left a warm place in my heart in the short time that I knew her. When we talked about my plans to leave my home and move to Mississippi she was always so encouraging, she would share with me her advice and words of wisdom. I will always love her! ?? RIP Lorraine, you will be dearly missed! "

But in 2018 while I was a PT medical receptionist at Aspirin Language Hospital I got to meet her in person when she would come up to exercise and for therapy. She was such a joy and a blessing to me. "I worked at PickNSave, and now at Lakeside, and over the years, Lorraine came in as a customer, and became a friend. She always had the brightest multicolored tennis shoes on, so we dubbed her ?Crazy-Shoes Lorraine?. She loved it! She always had a huge hug for me, and wonderful words of wisdom, as I asked her advice in raising my 3 kids. She was a bright light in this world, and I will miss our chats immensely. Rest easy my dear friend.?"
