Ethelyn "Effie" Amburgy
December 30, 1928 - September 8, 2011

Ethelyn "Effie" Amburgy, of Langlade, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at her daughter Pattie's home. She was 82 years old. She was born on December 30, 1928 in the town of Wolf River, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Lumina (Jacques) Brazeau. She married Donald Amburgy on October 21, 1950 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Langlade. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2002.

She was a 1948 graduate of White Lake High School. She worked in school food service in Green Bay for seven years and in White Lake as the head cook for 13 years retiring in 1992. She and her husband owned the Blue Goose in Langlade for 3 1/2 years.

She enjoyed reading, bowling, playing cards, fishing, watching soap operas and the game show network. She was an avid Milwaukee Brewer and Green Bay Packer fan.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia "Pattie" (Daniel) Kruse, Langlade, Mary (Mike) Damrow, Lake Geneva and Linda (Mark) Jagla, Winneconne; two sons, Lawrence (Terri) Amburgy, Everett, WA and Victor (Ken Watt) Amburgy, Vallejo, CA; and other "son", Gary (Shelly) Vanness, Freedom; nine grandchildren, James (Allison) Kruse, Danelle (Scott) Mack, Abe Jagla, Simon (Corrina) Damrow, Elizabeth (Aaron) Sleeman, Molly Damrow, Jesse (Katie) Damrow, Jennifer (Kurt) Joers and Hannah Amburgy; ten great-grandchildren, Lucas, Sydney, Wyatt, Taylor, Ethan, Evan, Frankie, Makayla, Alisha and Jeremiah; three sisters, Patricia Brazeau, Green Bay, Grace Doemel, Antigo and Marie Sharkey, Green Bay; a brother, Edgar Brazeau, Langlade; and a sister-in-law, Mary Kay Brazeau, Oak Creek.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Victor; a sister, Esther Beattie; and her beloved dog, Tiz.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Langlade with Gary Vanness officiating. Burial will take place in Langlade Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 -7 p.m. on Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home with a parish wake service at 7 p.m. and 9 - 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
