Audrey Mae Michels
May 10, 1931 - February 7, 2022
Audrey Mae Michels, age 90 of Shorewood, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at Heartis Northshore Village. She was 90 years old. She was born on May 10, 1931, in Antigo, a daughter of Edwin and Caroline (Klamerus) Spurgeon. She married Richard Michels on December 27, 1970. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2016.
Audrey graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1948. Her biggest accomplishment was owning Audrea Beauty Shop in Milwaukee. Audrey and her husband owned a automotive chemical manufacturing company that led them to travel all over the United States and Canada.
At the age of 33 she was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. She was brave and chose to do an experimental chemotherapy treatment to fight the cancer. She was a fighter and three time cancer survivor. Audrey was a life long learner, attending classes into her 70s.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacalyn "Jacaie" Coutant of Shorewood and Robin (Michael) Shull of Byron, Ill; a grandson, Chadwick (Caty) Coutant of Shorewood; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant son, Karl in 1953.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 13 at 1 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Spurgeon officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery, Antigo. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
