Elizabeth Irene Countey
May 1, 1925 - February 16, 2022

Mrs. Elizabeth Irene Countey nee Smith, of Washington Township; formerly a long-time resident of Westmont, NJ and previously of Roswell, NM, passed away peacefully February 16, 2022 at the age of 96.

She was preceded in death by her parents Milton Claude and Margaret Smith nee Clark, siblings Frances Helen nee McGee (Brackeen), James (Woodson), Milton Claude Smith Jr., Robert Clark Smith (Rebecca), Mary Margaret nee Smith West (Linke), John Edward Smith (Bobbie Jo), her husband Robert of 38 years, and her sons David and William. A beloved mother survived by her children James (Linda), Kathleen Haddock (Lou), Dorothy Gies (George), Patrick (Stacie), Debra Robinson, John (Debra), Robert (Kathleen), Edward (Michele), and Barbara. Also, survived by her reunited niece Faye Norcott Hanrahan (Mike). Additionally, predeceased by grandson Brian and granddaughter Brialle. Survived by her grandchildren Jeffery, Tina, William, Thomas, Kevin, Brendan, Margaret, Stephanie, Wade, Patrick, Megan, Christopher, Deanna, Haley, Connor, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Sophia, and Jake. Also, survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Irene completed her education at Roswell High School. She was a devoted homemaker to her 11 children. Irene was a long-time parishioner of St. Vincent Pallotti Roman Catholic Church in Haddonfield, NJ. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, Woman's Club, Our Lady of Lourdes Thrift Shop, and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital volunteers. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed playing Rummicub, pinochle and was an avid reader.

There will be a viewing from 9:45am to 10:45am Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes RC Church, 701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood, NJ.

Funeral Mass 11am at the Church.

Interment New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr, NJ.

Flowers are appreciated or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene's memory to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at Our Lady of Hope Parish.
