Roger Hofer, 59, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care, 107 N. Main St., in Baxter from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Bethany Cemetery in Baxter at a later date.
Roger was born on April 24, 1962, in Newton to Charles and Janice (Willia) Hofer. He grew up on the family farm outside of Baxter and attended Baxter High School. After school, he joined the Navy. He served on the USS Benjamin Stoddert (DDG-22) and was honorably discharged. After his service he returned to Iowa where he worked various jobs and started his family. Roger worked construction and had his CDL where he drove as a truck driver too. Roger married Denise Reineke on July 2, 2014. He was a member of the Teamsters. Roger's pride of his life was his family and he enjoyed spending time with them.
Roger is survived by his wife Denise Hofer; children Janell Travis, Anthony Hofer, and Dylan (Suzanne) Hofer; stepdaughter Michelle Neal; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; father Charles Hofer; brother Jerry (Lorna) Hofer; and special friend Becky Rickabaugh.
He was preceded in death by his mother and sister Kathy Williams.
