Fred Schroeder passed away peacefully in his sleep February 21, at the age of 92. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth and five children - Steve (& wife Berit), Vicki (& husband Rick Stark), Mark (& wife Gale), Karen (& husband Paul Gunter), and Chris (& wife Julia), 6 grandchildren - Ben, Lindsie, Matt, Luke, Greg, and Allison, and 6 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Fred and Ruth would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Louise Schroeder, his brother Robert Schroeder, and his sister Beatrice Hogue-Dale.
Fred was born in Portland, Oregon and attended Fernwood Elementary School, Grant High School, and then continued on to graduate from Oregon State University with a mechanical engineering degree in 1951. He worked at Boeing for 40 years as an aerospace engineer and senior manager. He was an active and dedicated member of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church for over 60 years.
Fred, and his wife Ruth, enjoyed traveling and visited every state in the United States and many countries worldwide. Fred's other interests included golfing, fishing, gardening, DIY projects, watching football, and spending time with family and friends. He was a beloved and respected husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle and will be greatly missed by all his family and the many friends he made over the years. Rest in peace Fred.
