David Wayne Ebinger

"I went to high school and college with Dave. Just hearing this a year later. Am gutted. Anyone know how to contact his other friend Rusty Kane? I tried to find them both for years to no avail."

"Damn. Tried to contact Dave for years. Don?t know how many times I?ve left a card at his property on the Des Moines river by Boone with a note to call me. Spent a summer at the place in the 80s. Loved our adventures on motorcycles. Would have been great to catch up. Heart goes out to all close with him. Dave was a great friend. Really sorry we lost contact in out later years. "I met Dave while I was an architecture student at ISU. Agree with others that he was an intellectual and that he looked at life differently than most folks. Loved the remodel that he did to the house of an ex-girlfriend of his in ames (denise?), he did a peter eisenman like interior renovation to an ordinary ames house. spent time with dave and my friend tinka (his girlfriend and baby moma) going to museums in chicago. remember how dave rigged his leather jacket with speaker wire so that his jacket could be heated so that he could ride his motorcycle through the iowa winters. "

"I met and got to know Dave a few months before his passing. I enjoyed our conversations about life, family and society. Dave was an intellectual, he was kind hearted and had a opened minded outlook on life. I?m was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I wish peace and love to Dave and all his friends and family."

"Dave was a good friend of mine that I lost track of for a number of years. First of all I am shocked to hear of his passing, but I wanted to add some words of reflection as a tribute to our friendship and his life. Dave and I met in high school, but our friendship really blossomed in college at Iowa State. That is where we got reacquainted and where we started sharing our aspirations for life, our philosophical ideas and where we engaged in constant satirical commentaries on the road commonly traveled by the masses. He was a very well educated and insightful mind with a healthy irreverence of the norm. He was also a talented carpenter and avid student of architecture. We built a substantial addition to his parents home in Cedar Rapids, Ia. during the course of a summer (under Dave's artistic leadership and expertise) that we humorously referred to as being conducted by the E & H construction company (Ebinger & Hamre). I'm not sure that his parents at the time saw quite the same level of humor in that construction project as we did. It went way over schedule (and I'm sure also budget) but turned out to by quite an innovative design even by the demanding standards of his father. Dave, your sarcastic, imaginative character will be much missed by this world. Even more substantial will be the loss of your personal friendship and unique perspective on this life.
