In loving memory of

Rynda Lee Shortridge-Seckel
August 24, 1965 - March 27, 2022

Rynda Lee Shortridge-Seckel, age 56, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home in Madison Heights. Rynda was born August 24, 1965 in Highland Park, to the late Girloma and Thurman Shortridge.

She graduated from L'Anse Creuse High School - North in 1983. After high school she continued her education, receiving an associate in Architecture from Macomb and an associate in Interior Design from Ivy Tech. Rynda met the love of her life, Richard Alan Seckel, in 1986. Shortly after, they decided they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and were married August 12, 1989.

She was strong in her faith and a talented baker; she was known in her family for the tray of assorted cookies she would bring to the holiday parties.

Rynda was an exceptional artist, she enjoyed painting and drawing and had an immense talent for the large murals that she created. She enjoyed photographing nature, especially flowers at parks, nature walks, or her incredible garden she grew in their back yard. Rynda loved her family and children more than anything; she took pride in their education and teaching them to love nature and the world around them as she did. Very often she would take Jesse and Madeleyn on field trips to one of her favorite places: the Red Oaks Nature Center.

Rynda was the beloved wife or Richard Seckel. Loving mother of Jesse (Mary) Seckel and Madeleyn Seckel. Dear sister of Dana Shortridge, Eric Shortridge, Mark Shortridge; stepsister of Tim (Gladys) Wheeler, Tom (Amy) Wheeler, and Terry (Dawn) Wheeler. Rynda is also survived by her stepmother, Rosemary, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation for Rynda will take place Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 2-8pm, Funeral Service at 7pm, at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 43300 Garfield Road, Clinton Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rynda's honor can be made to Samaritan's Purse, https://www.samaritanspurse.org/.
