In loving memory of

Arvin Stuart Kreitman
January 17, 1938 - April 6, 2022

Arvin Stuart Kreitman passed away on April 6, 2022, in Dallas, Texas, after a brief illness. He was 84 years old.

Arvin was born on January 17, 1938, in St. Louis Missouri, to Abe and Gertrude (Gold) Kreitman. His father was a Jewish immigrant from Poland who ran a number of small businesses. His mother worked in a defense factory during World War II and later as a government clerk. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Audrey Grossman.

Arvin worked his way through Washington University in St. Louis selling shoes and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1960. He had a long career in the professional uniform business, outfitting hospitals, hotels, casinos, and restaurants. He was highly respected by his salesmen and customers alike.

In 1962, friends set Arvin up on a blind date with Arlene Rotter. After a movie, they sat and talked for over three hours. They were engaged three weeks later and married after six months. Son Jerry arrived in 1964, followed by daughter Pam in 1968 and son Ricky in 1970.

In 1975, Arvin was promoted to regional manager with his company and moved his family to the wild west of Dallas, Texas, where he was very involved with Temple Shalom and made many lifelong friends.

Arvin loved fishing, poker, fixing things around the house, Las Vegas, and a good martini. He had a boisterous laugh that was easily picked out of a crowd. He was always quick with a joke, good or bad.

Arvin's real passion was his family. Arlene was the love of his life for over 59 years, and they were a perfect match. His children have fond memories of road trips in the station wagon, fishing excursions, and backyard barbecues. His true pride was his grandchildren. He often said about his grandkids that "anything goes at Grandpa's house" and he loved to send them home spoiled to their parents. He was also lucky to be able to meet his first two great-grandchildren.

Arvin is survived by his wife Arlene, son Jerry (Lori), daughter Pam (Mike) Kalpin, son Ricky (Jenny), grandchildren Becca (Nick) McGlaun, Brady (Rachel), Megan, Hannah, Julie, and Molly, and great-grandchildren Charlotte McGlaun and Grace Kreitman. We love you, Arvin, Dad, and Grandpa. Your memory is a blessing to us.

A memorial service will take place at Temple Shalom in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, April 10 at 2:00pm. Donations in Arvin's memory can be made to the Temple Shalom Torah Study Tzedakah Fund or to the rabbi's discretionary fund.
