MUSCATINE, Iowa - Frederick George Day, 67, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at his home.

Per his wishes, he is going to be cremated and there will be no services. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Sons of the American Legion, in Fred's honor. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Fred was born February 28, 1955, in Muscatine, the son of Ivan R. and Gertrude Boche Day. He married Evie Korte on August 14, 2009, in Evie's mother's backyard in Muscatine.

Fred worked at Grain Processing Corporation in the starch and maintenance department. He was a member of the American Legion. Fred enjoyed gardening. He was an avid Ilini, Broncos, and White Sox fan. Fred loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Evie Day of Muscatine; four children, Chris Day, Carrie Gerdts and her husband, Chris, of Muscatine, Joe Hirt and his wife, Rosie, of Muscatine, and Jenny Luu and her husband, Sang, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; nine grandchildren, Derek Hirt and his wife, Maddie, Lexi Hirt, Luke Luu, Madisyn Gerdts, Maison Gerdts, Makynzie Gerdts, Cambal Luu, Rhys Luu, and Mikael Gerdts; one great grandson, Jaxon Hirt; two siblings, Ivan L. Day and his wife, Donna, of Davenport and Renate Day of Muscatine; sister-in-law, Linda McDonald and her husband, Robert; mother-in-law, Jean Korte and her significant other Jerry Angers; and several nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Martinez; grandparents; and father-in-law, Tom Korte.
