Hoeker, Mrs
Elinor Glenna
Muskegon

Mrs Elinor Glenna Hoeker, age 96, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022. She was born in Shelby, MI on January 21, 1926 to Larry & Ethel (Ward) Henry and married Herbert Hoeker on April 24, 1948. Mrs Hoeker had been employed as a secretary for Muskegon Public Schools for 11 years. Elinor was a past member of First Presbyterian Church and was part of a pinochle group for many years. She was involved with various parents groups while her children were in school and even organized movie nights at Churchill School. Elinor was an outspoken advocate for social justice, women's rights, and the fair treatment for all. She passed these views down to her extended family. She was very smart and would regularly beat the Jeopardy contestants, watching from her living room. She had a fierce love of music and even chose her husband for his great Cornet playing skills in the jazz band. In her early years, she performed in a singing trio, and played the euphonium in the high school band. While at the Presbyterian Church, her deep alto voice was a wonderful contribution to the choir for more than 30 years. Elinor was a wonderful cook and always kept a flower and vegatable garden. She was the organizer for all of their family trips and vacations, was proud to have visited all 48 contiguous states and loved singing harmony with her husband on those many long car trips.
