Ronald Olson
August 19, 1944 - April 20, 2022

Ronald Olson, of Hortonville, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Living Tree Assisted Living in Greenville. He was 77 years old. He was born on August 19, 1944, in Milwaukee, a son of William and Helen (Graves) Olson. He married Cathleen Bussert on February 24, 1968 in Milwaukee.

Ron graduated from Bayview High School in 1963. He received a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Mt. Senario College in Ladysmith and a Master's degree in adult education from UW Milwaukee.

He served in the Wisconsin National Guard for six years.

He worked for a short time at Harnischfeger Corporation in Milwaukee before joining the Milwaukee Police Department where he served as a police officer for 33 years. While with the Milwaukee Police Department he worked for the training bureau for 18 years having taught over 2000 police recruits. He retired in 2000 and went on to work for Midwest Express Airlines.

Ron and Cathleen moved to Surprise, Arizona for 13 years then to Hortonville in 2014. They are summer residents of Post Lake.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Ministries in Hortonville and served as Chairman of their Board of Education for five years.

Survivors include his wife, Cathleen; sons, Eric (Elizabeth) Olson, Milwaukee, James (Tracy) Olson, DeForest, Steven (Stacey) Olson, Henderson, Nevada; grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Jonathan and Alexis; sisters, Beverly Olson, Deland, Florida and Shirley Martinez, Muskego.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Maryjane Gulczynski, Doris Krizan and Bonnie Banach; and a brother, Donald Olson.

A funeral service will be held on Monday April 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Ministries, Hortonville with Rev. Kevin Westra officiating. Visitation will be Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will take place in Elcho Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Ministries 752 East Grand View Road Hortonville, WI 54944.
