Janice Angeline Mattmiller, of Antigo, died Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas. She was 85 years old. She was born on May 21, 1937, in Mattoon, a daughter of Arthur and Kathryn (Wolf) Teal. She married Vernon Mattmiller on April 27, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox.
She was a graduate of Mattoon High School, class of 1955. Janice attended the Teacher's College for one year. She worked as the secretary for Teal's Foliage.
Janice taught religious education in Bunkerville, Nevada for three and a half years and at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church for 20 years. She was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and belonged to Christian Concerns. Janice was the sewing leader for Phlox Flames 4-H Club for eight years. She enjoyed reading and traveling with Vernon.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Mattmiller of Horseshoe Bend, Ark; two daughters, Cynthia (Guy) Lindstrom of Horseshoe Bend, Ark and Brenda (Robert) Samolinski of Antigo; two sons, Ronald (Judy) Mattmiller of Melbourne, Fla and Harold (Kathy) Mattmiller of Antigo; many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Opper of Antigo; and a brother, Arturo (Peggy) Teal of Antigo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Richard Opper.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 1 p.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Reverend George Daniel officiating. Burial will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Phlox. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with a parish wake service at 4 p.m. and visitation will continue on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
