Iona Sue Berg
October 29, 1935 - June 18, 2022

MADISON-Iona Sue Berg, age 86, died peacefully on June 18, 2022, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. She was born on October 29, 1935, in Hartford City, Indiana, to David and Ethel (Feaster) Haag. She was 8 when she came with her mom and siblings to Wisconsin on the train to live on her grandfather's farm in Hoosier Hollow in Richland County. Iona graduated from Richland Center High School in 1956. She married Roger Burwell Berg in 1958 in Madison. Iona was a nanny for Dr. Ferris' family and worked at the Madison Club, Edgewater Hotel and Concourse Hotel. She loved spending time with family and friends and taking care of family pets. She loved feeding and watching birds. She loved eating Prime Rib and drinking coffee.
Iona is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Jeff) Donahue and Roberta (Rod) Krueger and grandchildren, Sam and Jack Bogan. She is further survived by brothers, Clarence (Erlinda) Haag and Richard (Pam) Haag; sisters, Eileen (Lawrence) Eberle, Harriet (Richard) Torgeson, and Josephine (James) Gruber; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Ethel; husband, Roger; brother, Paul Haag; and sisters, Chris Fairbrother and Theresa Haag; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence Eberle, Darald Fairbrother, and Richard Torgeson.
The family would like to thank UW East Hospital, Agrace Hospice Fitchburg, and Cedarhurst Senior Living. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29th from 10:00 - 11:00am, a service will begin at 11:00am with a luncheon following at St. Peter Catholic Parish 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, WI 53704
She was loved by many and touched a lot of hearts. We will miss her deeply.
