DORIS JEAN YERINGTON
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Doris J. Yerington, 86, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Lutheran Living.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverends Cyril and Jan McKay will officiate. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Doris's honor. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Doris was born on August 25, 1935, in Atalissa, the daughter of George Washington and Gladys Barbara Schaffnit Morrison. She married Carl Earl Yerington on June 14, 1962, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Muscatine.

Doris was a graduate of Atalissa High School. She cared for children in her home and at the YMCA daycare. Doris was a member of the Church of Nazarene where she cared for many children in the church nursery. She enjoyed traveling, reading Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and baking cookies. Doris loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, Eric Yerington of Muscatine, Diana Serpen and her significant other, Brian Chapman, of Muscatine, and Brian Yerington and his wife, Ping, of Mountain House, California; eight grandchildren, David Yerington, Joshua Pardie, Jennifer Baker, Jason Pardie and his wife, Christina, Alexandra Jorissen, Eren Serpen, Jacori Yerington, and Tristan Yerington; six great grandchildren, Willow, Briar, and Daisy Pardie, and Emma 'Rece', Claire, and Scarlet Baker; two sisters, Shirley Freeman and her husband, Don, of Waverly, and Marilyn James and her husband, Floyd of Des Moines; numerous nieces and nephews; and her goddaughters, Katherine Knox and Gabriela Fletcher.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard 'Dick' Morrison and George Fredrick Morrison; and one sister, Janice Schneckloth.
