William P. Knapp Sr., 86, formerly of Ames, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Bethany Life in Story City, Iowa. Graveside services are pending.
He was born on May 16, 1936, in Cedar Rapids to Fred and Stella (Pemberton) Knapp. He is survived by his sons William Knapp Jr. of Altoona, IA, Scott Knapp of Zearing, IA, and Timothy Knapp of San Fransico, CA; step-daughter Jolene Young; grandchildren LaDawn Young, Rachelle Knapp Britain, Richard Knapp, Michael Young, Joe Borton, Rosemary Ivy, and Will Borton; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Ruby Drexler of Monticello, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wives Gloria McManagle Knapp and Connie Bortain Knapp; infant daughter Tamaria Jean Knapp; sister; and 7 brothers.
