Sophie Ryemon Waldman

Sophie Feder Ryemon Waldman, loving wife, mother and grandmother died Tuesday, July 26, 2022. She was born on June 2, 1923, in Houston, Texas. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Sophie was predeceased by her first husband of 30 years I.L. Ryemon and by her second husband of 18 years Carl Waldman. She is survived by children Jan Robert "Bob" Ryemon of Oak Park, CA, Arnold Ryemon of Austin, Mary Ann Ryemon and husband Joe Layton of Pearland; Grandson, Jeff Ryemon of Canoga Park, Ca.; Sister-in-law, Adele Ryemon of Dallas; Niece, Rhonda Ryemon and Husband Jack Cohen of Southlake; Nephew, Stephen Ryemon of Rockledge, Fl.

Sophie was a graduate of Lamar High School in 1939 and later attended the University of Houston. During World War II she worked as a typist for the Navy Department under Admiral Foote.

She began playing the piano at a young age and studied under Walter Weischoff. She became a well- known pianist in the Houston community. It is while accompanying a voice student that she met her future husband.

She married I. L. Ryemon in 1946, she was a member of United Orthodox Synagogues. The family would like to give a special thanks to Doris Hearne, Cathy Adams, Shantel Jason, Cheryl Robinson, and Patricia Nicklos.
