Joe A. Sandler
May 17, 1930 - July 27, 2022

Joe Alvin Sandler, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, in Houston, TX. Joe was born in Dallas, TX on May 17, 1930 to the late Ben and Ruth Sandler.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Bank Sandler, a granddaughter, Rebecca Sandler, and great-granddaughter Ava Hodges.

Joe attended R.L. Paschal High School in Ft Worth, TX and Texas A&M College (as it was then known). He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1955. During this time, while stationed in Wichita, KS, he met the love of his life Evelyn Bank and they were married on December 27, 1953. From this union, they had four children, Rosalyn Jochen of Spring, TX; Mike Sandler (Eleanor) of Diamondhead, MS; Van Sandler {Kathy) of Richmond, TX; and Vikki Clement (Joe) of Centerton, AR. They also had four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many other family members and many friends.

Joe was a past member of Houston Scottish Rite and Arabia Shrine Temple of Houston, and also a Lifetime member of Masonic Lodge Southside #1114 of Ft. Worth, TX. He was an avid photographer receiving many recognitions and awards, and was a past president of Houston Photochrome Club as well as Houston Camera Club. Joe also loved his Houston Oilers, along with all of the Houston Sports Teams. His other hobbies included playing Poker with his regular weekly game with longtime friends, and as a member of Snowman Poker League where he won many tournaments, and made many new friends.

A graveside service for Joe will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak, 7445 Awty School Lane, Houston, TX 77055.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at HCA - ­Northwest Houston Hospital, the Caregivers at Ella Springs Senior Living Community, and Bayou City Hospice for their exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joe's memory to your favorite charity.
