In loving memory of

Philip S. Ranno
January 28, 1936 - August 1, 2022

Philip Sebastian Ranno, born January 28, 1936, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side August 1, 2022. Beloved husband of Jean for 60 years. Treasured Father of Douglas, Gary and Karen (Matthew) Boyle. Adored Grandfather of Reese, Liam and Olivia. Brother of Marlene Pellino.
Phil was born in the Bronx, NY. He was a Graduate of Tufts University with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

After returning from the Marines, Phil met the love of his life while working with his father in the plating industry in Detroit.

Phil and his father started their own plating business in New York, 1960. Phil's 'second family' were all of his employees spanning thirty years at Ranno Electro Plating, Inc.
Phil loved his family above all else, settling in Wyckoff, NJ, where he and Jean raised three wonderful children. He was a deeply principled man who left an indelible impression on all he encountered.

Phil could be found roaming the links of Apple Ridge Country Club every weekend followed by boisterous gin games in the card room.

As the years progressed and the family spread out all over the country, nothing pleased Phil more than all the occasions when the family could reunite in his and Jean's condo in Macomb, MI. Near Daily phone calls and Facetimes with the kids and grandchildren always brought Phil the most joy.

Phil will be incredibly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Funeral Thursday, August 4th, Instate 11:30am until time of Funeral Mass at 12:00pm, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 48115 Schoenherr Road, Shelby Township.

"My heartfelt condolences to Aunt Jean and family, along with gratitude for being so supportive of Uncle Phil and each other during such difficult times. Uncle Phil had a wonderful way of bringing out not only a good laugh, but more importantly, of unveiling the best we all had to offer. I'm very grateful to have known him and thank him so much for his generosity of spirit in my life. May he eternally live in peace with Jesus, David "

"Such fond memories of my younger years that The Rannos were instrumental in my teenage development especially in gaining confidence with responsibilities caring for their beloved 3 children! I began as a ?mother?s helper? at the age of 12 and was their ?regular babysitter ? until my college years! I had the good fortune of going to the pool at Apple Ridge CC with Doug,Gary and Karen during the summer! I had it GOOD! The entire family came to my wedding in 1984 and we have kept in touch ever since with faithful Christmas cards?38 yrs, as Bill and I celebrate our anniversary tomorrow?.our hearts will be with ALL of you when you say farewell to your beloved husband and Dad! Phil and Jean and the ?kids? will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart with fond memories! The Rannos have been a part of shaping who I am today, a CAREGIVER, as a PT and Rehab Director for the geriatric population in NH! My love to you Jean and hugs to all?Doug, Gary and Karen!??????????"
