Gordon "Dave" Hitz
April 13, 1949 - August 16, 2022

Gordon "Dave" Hitz, of Antigo, died Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was 73 years old. He was born on April 13, 1949, in Antigo, a son of the late Gordon and Ramona (Keso) Hitz. He married the love of his life, Cheryl "Sue" Cahak, on August 10, 1968, at St. John Catholic Church.

Dave was a graduate of Antigo High School. He retired from Antigo Zeon.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed playing cards. Family came first, his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sue of Antigo; three children, Michelle (Jacin) Gable, Chad (Christy) Hitz and Joshua (Sheila) Hitz all of Antigo; 10 grandchildren, Jacob Theisen and Cody (Kayleigh) Gable both of Antigo, Andrew Hitz of Antigo, Austin (Chloe) Hitz of Eland and Alex (Tayllor) Hitz of Stevens Point, Jasmine Sandlin, Tre Hogy, Lexis Hogy all of Antigo, Owen Fritz of Wausau and Masen Hitz of Antigo; a great-grandson, Isaac Hitz and twin great-grandchildren on the way.

Dave is also survived by five sisters, Helen (Louis) Zdrazil of Antigo, Diane Schroepfer of Antigo, Pamela (Gregory) Obst of Wausau, Lori (Carver) LaMonaca of Santa Fe, N.M., Cheri (John) Bloemer of Sun Prairie; seven brothers, John (Joyce) Hitz of Antigo, Bradley (Chris) Hitz of Greenville, Michael Hitz of Antigo, Herbert (Susan) Hitz of Cookeville, Tenn, Tommie Hitz of Antigo, Bill Hitz of Denver, Colo, and James (Theresa) Hitz of Bryant; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Lange of Antigo, Jerry (Mary Ellen) Cahak of Antigo, Larry (Carol) Cahak of Antigo, Terry (Jeannie) Cahak of Antigo and Doug (Janice) Cahak of Birnamwood; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Jeremy Hitz; a brother, Paul Hitz; father and mother-in-law, Leo and Margaret Cahak; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy and Karen Hitz, Eunice Antoniewicz, Betty Hersant, Marion Nowe, Mary, Ron, Don, and Charles Cahak.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 28 from Noon to 4 p.m. at City Park-East Pavilion.
